It's not surprising that Goa is such a popular holiday destination. There are miles of golden, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and beautiful green landscapes. Best time for Goa
The best time to travel to Goa is in winter. Mid-November to mid-February daytime temperatures reach around 28 degrees Centigrade. The monsoon season usually starts around the beginning of June. Why not visit Goa in February to celebrate the region's Annual Carnival? Alternatively during August and September there is the 10 day Gamesja Chaturthi Festival while Diwali takes place in October to November. Goa also celebrates Christmas holidays in December as well as Easter in April.
Before you travel
The official language in Goa is Konkani, although Hindi and Marathi are also spoken. If you're thinking of travelling to Goa for festivals it's a good idea to book transport and hotels well in advance. Prices are generally lower than in New Delhi, a cheap thali can be found for around Rs 150, a restaurant meal for approx. Rs 400.

For pre-paid taxi prices from the airport, please refer to the official taxi rate board outside arrivals. For example: to Panjim about Rs 700, Anjuna Rs 1,000, Aramabol Rs 1,400, Agonda Rs 1,500. It's advisable to negotiate fares in advance for non pre-paid taxis or autos. Basic accommodation will set you back about Rs 700, mid range Rs 2,500 and luxury Rs 4,000. Bus transportation is provided by Kadamba Transport Corp. The minimum fare is around Rs 3 for two kilometres and Rs 1 for every kilometre after that. To travel around Goa's state, bus fares range from Rs 8 - 10, Rs 10 -15 for approximately 30-40 kilometres. Remember to negotiate with taxis and autos before boarding. For the cheapest public transport option you can't beat a motorcycle taxi. The state of Goa is a very popular destination especially with leisure tourists. It's worth pointing out that many shops are shut for siesta usually between 13.30 - 15.30. In Panaji most shops close around 20.00 hours.
