Visitors travelling from India require a visa. Apply at VFS Netherlands Visa Application Centres. An appointment is needed so enquire in advance. A tip to avoid unexpected high costs is to ask taxi drivers the estimated price of a trip before the journey. Delight in a representation of food in numerous snack bars and restaurants ranging from Indonesia, Surinam, and NL Antilles. Be aware that Amsterdam is an expensive city and tourist attractions will follow suit. A basic meal costs approximately EUR15.

If arriving by plane there is an airport railway station with trains directly to central Amsterdam. The journey time is approximately 5 minutes with and estimated price of EUR4. If bus travel is preferred line 197 goes to and from Leidseplein in central Amsterdam with travel time at approximately 35 minutes. Taxis are also available and are about EUR50. Budget travellers can stay in a shared room for approximately EUR20 per night in hostels. Hotels can be found for around EUR45. Transportation can range in price with taxis as an expensive option at around EUR15-20 for an approximate 10 minute journey. There are 24 hour day tickets on public transport that cost approximately EUR8 and EUR3 for children (age 4-11). Trams will also sell single tickets on board.
