The most comfortable time weather-wise is October to March when it is mild and sunny with temperatures at 15° to 29° C. March to June is very hot. Monsoon season is July to October. For visiting during festival time, Muslim and Hindu festivals are celebrated on varying dates. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is held in August or September, celebrating the birthday of Lord Ganesh, the god of prosperity. The Hindu Diwali festival of lights takes place in October. In July or August, during Bonalu, the idol of Goddess Mahankali is worshipped commemorating ending a plague in the early 1800s. For three days in summer, the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr celebrates the end of Ramadan. The Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al Adha, is a four day festival celebrating Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son.
Tips before travelling to Hyderabad
As well as a popular leisure tourist destination, Hyderabad welcomes increasing amounts of business travellers, and is an important IT hub. The official language is Telugu, but Urdu is also widely spoken. Hindi is also spoken by many people, as well as Hindi and Urdu dialects. Eating out in Hyderabad is much cheaper than in New Delhi. A restaurant meal costs around Rs. 250. A cheap Thali meal, composed of an assortment of small dishes served on a platter, costs around Rs. 120.

The air-conditioned Pushpak - Airport Liner shuttlebus goes from the Airport to central Hyderabad at a cost between Rs. 100 and 250 one way. Radio Taxis can be found in front of the arrivals Terminal. Fares to Hyderabad are about Rs. 40 per km with a 25% surcharge at night between 11pm and 5am. Cheap accommodation starts at about Rs. 1000. Average accommodation is about Rs. 2000 and luxury hotels cost around Rs. 3500. For getting about in Hyderabad the APSRTC buses start at a fare of around Rs. 20. They are often crowded. For taxis and autos, negotiate the fare in advance. The minimum fare for taxis and autos is Rs. 20 for 2km and Rs. 10 for every additional km travelled.
