Bangkok's peak season

The best time to travel to Bangkok, Thailand is during the cooler season from November to February. Temperatures are generally high throughout the year. It's best to avoid the monsoon season from June to November.

Important info before you get to Bangkok

Passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Tourist visas can be applied for upon entry if staying 30 days or less. You must have proof of your return flight and funds of 10,000 baht per person for the visit. A fee of around 1000 baht is payable upon entry to the Kingdom.

It's recommended to have a number of vaccinations like Hepatitis A, Tetanus, Rabies, Typhus, Diphtheria and Malaria Prophylaxis, ask your doctor for vaccine advice.

The prices of groceries are usually higher in Bangkok compared to India for instance, around 20-30% more. A basic restaurant meal is slightly cheaper compared to Delhi, costing around 60 baht.

Airport arrival, accommodation and transport

For transport to the city centre, the Airport Rail Link calls at the airport with access to the terminal. Getting to Bangkok with the Airport Link Express (direct train) costs around 100 Thai baht, change here or take a taxi. Airport Link City Line, with stops, takes longer, however it's slightly cheaper.

You will find accommodation in the city from around 360 Thai baht upwards. Popular locations for hotels are Chinatown, Sukhumvit Road area and the Khao-San-Road area.

Travelling by public transport using the buses is cheap but difficult to understand. The Metro is also cheap while taxis are popular, quick and affordable. Tuk tuks (rickshaws) are fun, but often tourist traps and quite expensive compared to other modes of transport.
