The best time to visit Frankfurt will vary depending on personal interests. Festivities and weather are crucial determinants. Frankfurt has a mild climate and temperature extremes are not common although it can get cold in winter. It usually snows between December and February in this part of Europe and the weather in winter is wet and cold with temperatures reaching -10 °C.

Warm weather is typical for the summer months of June until August. In December, the city's Christmas markets come alive with amazing sights, sounds and delightful smells. There are plenty of annual festivals and events: e.g. Nacht der Museen and Museumsuferfest.

Indian Citizens travelling to Frankfurt will require a Schengen Visa for entry into Germany. Frankfurt has two airports. Its main international airport (Frankfurt Main Flughafen) is close to the city centre, and easily reachable using public transportation. Frankfurt Hahn Airport (a minor international airport) is the second air hub. Bus transportation provides a two-hour ride from this airport to Frankfurt. Visitors from India soon discover that the cost of living in Frankfurt is higher than the average cost of living in their native home. The average cost of an inexpensive meal within the city is 10EUR.

From the main airport to the city centre tourists can take local trains S8, S9, or RE80 and expect to arrive within 15 minutes. The fare is approximately 4.50EUR. Tickets can be purchased at machines prior to boarding. If taking a taxi, the trip will take 20 to 30 minutes. The cost of a hotel is around 20EUR per person for shared rooms. The cost for a single occupant is around 50EUR. Visitors are encouraged to book their accommodation early at times of trade fairs and other major events.

Frankfurt's transportation grid provides trams, overground and underground trains, and buses. A Frankfurt travel pass is perfect for visiting multiple attractions. An approximate price for a day pass is 7EUR, 2.80EUR for a single ticket, and 11EUR for a group ticket day pass that can be used by up to five people.
