A beautiful and historic city
Situated in the Aurangahad district of the state of Maharashtra in India, the beautiful city of Aurangabad is a lovely sight to behold. Best of climate and festivals
With its semiarid climate, the best time to visit the city is during the winter months between October and February when the average temperature is around 22°C. Summer in Aurangabad is from March to May and it can get quite hot and the annual monsoon season takes place from around June until September. A good time to visit the city is when the major Hindu and Muslim festivals are celebrated as they are a delight to behold. The Aurangabad Festival takes place at the end of December and is ideal to enjoy the many music and art displays. Other festivals include Diwali in October/November, the Ganesh Chaturthi which takes place around August/September, and the Shivaji Jayanti and Khultabad Urs festivals in May. The Eid al-Fitr festival is at the end of Ramadan, and its dates vary according to the lunar calendar.
Before you travel and local transport
Before you travel to the city of Aurangabad, it is important to remember that transport to and from the airport is only available via taxi or car, so make sure to arrange this beforehand. Prepaid taxi fares are available depending on the destination, and cost around Rs. 15 for the first 1.5 km and then about Rs.15 for every additional km of the journey. It is always a good idea to negotiate fares before you climb into the taxi. Buses are available in the city and the fares around Rs.13 and upwards.

Most of the budget hotels in the city of Aurangabad are located close to the main train station or the city centre, while the top luxury hotels are found near the airport. The approximated prices for cheap accommodation are around Rs. 700, for mid-price hotels about Rs. 2000 and for luxury accommodation around Rs. 3500. Food prices vary around the city and the average cheap meal cost Rs 150 and restaurant meals cost around Rs. 200.
