The best time to travel to Aurangabad is during the winter months of October to February, average temperature around 22 degrees Centigrade. The summer months from March to May can be extremely hot even for the locals. Monsoon season is from June until September and not really a good time to travel. Many major Hindu and Muslim Festivals are celebrated in Aurangabad like the Aurangabad Festival of Music and Arts which takes place at the end of December. During October and November there's the Diwali. Maybe you wish to arrange your visit in August or September for Ganesh Chaturthi, Shivaji Jayanti and Khultabad Urs in May. There's also Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan. It's worth pointing out that dates do vary for this event.

Transport from the airport is only available via taxi or autos. Pre-paid taxi fares to and from the airport depend on the route. Generally taxi fares are about Rs 15 for the first 1.5 km and then Rs 15 for every additional km after that. Prices for autos to and from the train station are around Rs 150. It's a good idea to negotiate the fare before boarding. When it comes to cheap accommodation, expect to pay at least in the region of Rs 700, mid range Rs 2,000 and luxury Rs 3500. It's worth knowing that most budget hotels are close to the train station or the city centre. You can find top luxury hotels near the airport. Getting back to public transport, it's always best to negotiate fares with taxi and auto drivers. Minimum fares for taxis and autos are around Rs 8 for 2 km and Rs 8 for every additional km thereafter. The bus operator is MSRTC, fares are about Rs 13 upwards.
