Winter is the best season to visit when between October and February the average temperature is approximately 22°C. Summer, from March to May and can be hot. The Monsoon season is from June till September. There are many Hindu and Muslim festivals. The music and art Aurangabad Festival is celebrated at the end of December and Diwali, the Festival of Lights happens in October or November. Festival dates vary, Ganesh Chaturthi is August/September, Shivaji Jayanti and Khultabad Urs in May and Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan does not have fixed dates.

Travel from Aurangabad Airport to the city centre by taxi or auto. An auto is a motorised rickshaw. Organise a prepaid taxi before travel. Fares vary according to the route taken. A taxi fare is Rs. 15 for first 1.5 km and then Rs. 15 for every additional km.An auto ride from or to the train station is about Rs. 150. Negotiate a fare before boarding. There is a wide range of accommodation with prices for an inexpensive room being about Rs. 700, a mid-priced room Rs. 2,000 and a luxury hotel about Rs. 3,500.The majority of budget hotels are close to the train station or are in the city centre.   A range of top luxury hotels are located near to the Aurangabad airport.    Negotiate with taxi and auto drivers for journeys in the city. The minimum fare for taxis and autos is around Rs. 8 for 2 km and Rs. 8 for every additional km. There is a public bus network  the MSRTC. Fares start at about Rs. 13 and increase according to the distance of the destination.
