All budgets are catered for in Ernakulam City with low cost hostels charging about 800 RS and medium priced hotels costing approximately 2,000 rupees.

There are plenty of local transport options to take you in and around Kochi. A ferry between Fort Kochi and the mainland is around 4 rupees from Park Jetty to Fort Kochi. City bus fares are about 4 RS for the first km while auto rickshaws cost about 10 RS for the first 1.25 km. If you want to travel around by taxi, expect to pay approx 50 RS for the first 3 km. How about scooter hire? Many tourists choose this exciting type of transport to explore the city. It's cheap and only around 300 RS per day. There's also cycling, good in Fort Kochi.
